NOVEMBER 2, 2025 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Election results for the Canton de Hatley municipal elections are available on the Élections Québec web site.
The November 2, 2025 municipal election will allow electors of the municipality of Canton de Hatley to choose their representatives for the next four years. For all election information, please consult the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities or the Elections Québec website.
ARE YOU ON THE ELECTORAL ROLL?
Notice of registration and revision of the electoral roll
The registration notice was distributed this week to all addresses in the municipality.
If you are not listed on this notice, you must appear before the revision commission to request, if necessary, registration, removal, or modification of the electoral roll.
The Board of Revision will be sitting at Town Hall, 4765 Capelton Road, to receive applications for revision of the list of electors:
- Tuesday, October 14, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Thursday, October 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A voter who comes to register themselves or their spouse, parents, or someone living at the same address must present two pieces of identification for the person whose name does not appear on the electoral roll:
- The first piece of identification must show the name and date of birth (birth certificate, health insurance card, or passport).
- The second piece of proof must include the name and address (driver’s license, student card, telephone or electricity bill).
A request for removal from the list may also be submitted by any person:
- Who should not be registered on the electoral list;
- Who does not wish to be registered on the electoral list;
- Is registered on the electoral list for a residence, building, or business establishment when they should be registered for another.
A voter may submit a request to the revision board to correct any error in the registration of their name or address or, where applicable, their date of birth.
WHO CAN VOTE?
To exercise their right to vote, a person must, at the time of voting:
- Be a voter and be registered on the municipality’s electoral list;
- Be at least 18 years of age on election day, November 2, 2025;
- Be a Canadian citizen;
- Not be in a situation of incapacity to vote as provided for by law (under guardianship or guilty of an offense constituting electoral fraud).
It is also necessary to meet one of the following two conditions:
- be domiciled on the territory of the municipality and, for at least six months, in Québec;
- be, since at least September 18, 2025, the owner of an immovable or the occupant of a business establishment, within the meaning of the Act respecting municipal taxation (chapter F-2. 1), located on the territory of the municipality.
HOW DO I IDENTIFY MYSELF AT THE POLLING STATION?
When you arrive at the polling station, you’ll need to present one of the following documents:
- Your health insurance card
- Your driver’s licence (or probationary licence);
- Your Canadian passport;
- Your Certificate of Indian Status;
- Your Canadian Forces identification card.
Voters who do not have one of these documents will be directed to the identity verification panel.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL VOTING TAKE PLACE?
- Advance poll: Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- General election: Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voting will take place at Town Hall, 4765 Capelton Road, Canton de Hatley (Québec) J0B 2C0. Voting sites will be accessible to people with reduced mobility.
WHO IS IN CHARGE OF ELECTIONS?
The Returning Officer, Mr. Gabriel Demers, is responsible for holding the election and ensuring that it runs smoothly, including the electoral procedure, from nomination to the proclamation of the election following the poll. The returning office is located at Town Hall, 4765 Capelton Road, Canton de Hatley, Quebec, J0B 2C0.
