Municipal right-of-way

There is a space belonging to the Municipality which is located between the limit of a private property and the public road. This is called the municipal right-of-way. This strip of land runs along the public road and its width may vary from one road to another on the territory of the Municipality. To determine the width of the right-of-way in question, check your certificate of location.
The municipal right-of-way is part of the public road, which includes shoulders, ditches and possibly a strip of land beyond the ditch.
The Municipality or its contractors can therefore undertake at any time work deemed necessary in this municipal right-of-way.
For questions on this subject, do not hesitate to contact the Municipality.
Mailboxes in rural areas
Mailboxes in rural areas should be installed according to current standards. The municipality is not responsible for mailboxes broken by the snow removal truck if the installation does not meet standards.
We recommend that you consult Canada Post before any new installation, to make sure it is done according to standard.
