COVID-19 : When to report a situation to the police or not?

Many of you are wondering about situations related to the coronavirus for which it is appropriate or not to call the Sûreté du Québec.

Certain situations can be reported to the police, such as unauthorized gatherings, whether indoors or outdoors. To do this, call your local police station, 310-4141 or * 4141. However, certain situations do not have to be reported and we count on you not to overload the emergency services’ telephone lines.

For example, any grouping of people occupying the same residence is authorized, as well as citizens outside who respect the physical distance of 2 meters, unless they are subject to confinement of 14 days are not situations to report to the police. Do not contact the police either to validate if you can pass a checkpoint, it will be the traffic control officer who will assess your situation.
