Planning Advisory Committee

The Act respecting land use planning and development (LAU) allows municipalities to create a Planning Advisory Committee (CCU).

Although the CCU is consultative and non-decisional in nature, it nevertheless plays an undeniable role in the planning and administration of the municipal territory.

The role of the CCU is important in the planning and administration of the municipal territory, notably in the following cases:

  • Formulating an opinion on all requests for minor exemptions;
  • Formulate an opinion on all plans submitted under a by-law on site planning and architectural integration programs;
  • Formulate recommendations on any question submitted to it concerning the modification or application of by-laws in force;
  • Formulate an opinion on any application submitted under a by-law on specific construction, alteration or occupancy projects;
  • Formulate an opinion on any application submitted under a by-law on conditional uses.

The CCU is composed of the following members: 4 resident citizens and 2 municipal councillors. The mayor and the person responsible for applying urban planning by-laws are ex-officio members, but do not have voting rights.
